Gateway Christian Academy students working together on a hands-on math lesson

Wiggins, Mississippi · Established 2008

Where excellence in education and Christian experience meet.

A private Christian school in the heart of Stone County, serving families from 3-year-old kindergarten through 12th grade with traditional academics, small classes, and faith woven through everything we teach.

Rooted in faith

God's Word is integrated into every subject we teach — the foundation for a child's spiritual, mental, physical, and social growth.

Traditional academics

We teach the trusted Abeka curriculum — used in Christian schools worldwide for over 50 years — held to high academic standards.

A close-knit family

Small classes and certified teachers who know every child by name. We also offer dyslexia services for students who need them.

“Our purpose is to develop in students the mind of Christ, so that God's truth becomes an inseparable part of their lives and thinking.”

About our school

A place where families belong

Founded in 2008 and dedicated to high academic standards in a safe, Christ-centered environment.

Our story

Gateway Christian Academy opened its doors in 2008 in Wiggins, Mississippi, with a simple conviction: that children learn best when a strong education and a living faith are taught together, not separately. We are an extension of the ministry of Vardaman Street Baptist Church, working alongside other Bible-believing churches and — most importantly — alongside you, the family, to educate the whole child.

Today we serve students from 3-year-old kindergarten through 12th grade. We're a small school by design, where teachers know every student, families know one another, and no child slips through the cracks. We are not affiliated with any other "Gateway" schools.

Our philosophy

The "hallmark" characteristic of Gateway Christian Academy is traditional education. We believe:

  • God is the source of all truth, and true education must be based on His revealed Word.
  • Integrating God's Word into all we teach is essential to a student's spiritual, mental, physical, and social development.
  • Every student is a special creation of God, to be educated as an individual with unique abilities, personality, and potential.
  • A structured curriculum, filtered through the Word of God, gives students the firmest foundation for life.

Spiritual growth

To know the Bible as God's Word, relate its truths to everyday life, and grow in a personal walk with Christ.

Character & citizenship

To build self-discipline, responsibility, and respect — treating others with love and becoming contributing members of society.

Academic excellence

To uphold high academic standards and help each student reach their full potential in reading, writing, speaking, and problem-solving.

What we believe

Academics & Programs

The Abeka Curriculum

Trusted for over 50 years

Gateway teaches the Abeka curriculum, a certified Christian program developed in Pensacola, Florida and used by Christian schools and homeschools around the world for more than five decades.

Abeka pairs rigorous, traditional academics with a biblical worldview in every subject — phonics-based reading, strong math fundamentals, history, science, and language arts, all taught from a Christian perspective.

Programs by age & grade

One campus, every stage of your child's education.

Early Learning — K3, K4 & K5

A warm, structured first classroom. Children build early literacy and numeracy through Abeka's phonics-first approach while learning kindness, routine, and Bible truths. K3 students must be fully potty-trained; K5 students must turn five on or before September 1.

Elementary — Grades 1–6

Certified teachers lead small classes through reading, writing, mathematics, science, history, and Bible. This is where strong study habits and a love of learning take root.

Secondary — Grades 7–12

College-preparatory coursework taught by certified high school teachers across core subjects, preparing students academically and spiritually for whatever God calls them to next.

Dyslexia Services

Gateway offers dyslexia services to support students who learn differently, so every child has the chance to thrive.
